Endorsed as a fully authentic and autograph work by Spillenberger by Dr. Ruth Baljöhr, Berlin, author of the catalogue raisonné on the artist, upon examination of the original painting. Spillenberger numbers among the most outstanding 17th-century painters in the German-speaking area. Following an extensive sojourn in Rome, he settled in Vienna, where he became a painter to the imperial court.
